2006 BH3610 Question

Recently bought a used 3610. No real idea on history. Any info I should know on axles? Do thay have bearing buddies? I am going to replace tires with some Goodyear 10 ply load range E....is that a fair choice? It currently has 235/80/16 tires on it but I have no idean when they were purchased. I know this trailer sat on a seasonal site and hasn't been on the road since 2011. Am planning a 700 mile trip in a few weeks and don't want to have problems. I have towed it 150 miles without any problems but thought I should do some pm work before a long haul. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Tom

Hi Tom,

Welcome to the Heartland Owners Forum and to the family. We have a great bunch of folks here with lots of information and all willing to share their knowledge when needed.

Smart idea to replace the tires. Some of the units had the bearing buddy system, but most folks don't use it because grease seems to leak out and get on the brake shoes. This usually caused by putting to much grease in.

Think about joining the Heartland Owners Club and attending a rally when you can. You will meet some great folks and eat some really good food.

Don't skimp on the tire replacement. Go with the load range G Goodyear G614.

Your trailer does not have Bearing Buddies.
What it does have is a Zerk that is supposed to aid in getting new grease into the bearings.
I think that most people feel that system is useless and carries the risk of over greasing and contaminating the brakes.
Since you are a new owner of this rig you have no idea the condition of the bearings or the grease that is in there, if any.
You mentioned a 700 mile trip without problems.
If you want to accomplish that, pull the hubs, clean and inspect the bearings and hand pack them along with installing some new seals.
And as mentioned, go with a good load range G tire. Your 3610 came with load range G for a reason. The 16,000 pound GVWR.

Peace
Dave
