2012 Heartland North Trail Focus FX235 Hitch Weight

I just picked up a virtually "new" one of these. I am shocked to see a published hitch weight of 816lbs in a Heartland brochure. The Dry weight is 4269lbs. No other model is even close to this hitch weight percentage. Am I missing something with this model?

Hi Genco,

On travel trailers, the pin weight spec is usually 10-15% of the GVWR spec, not the empty weight spec. The GVWR on your North Trail is probably around 5,800 lbs. 15% of 5,800 = 870 lbs.

Of course, those are specs, not actual weights. You might stop by a truck stop and measure the actual weights on X-Scales. Doesn't cost much.
