my nor cold refrigerator stopped working (yesterday) .... four overhead cabinet hinges have pulled the plastic anchors out of the doors , the sink has pulled away and fallen from the counter top in the kitchen...... the fantastic fan won't open in automatic....and one grey water tank leaks if it is filled ....I am glad I have this forum to see how others deal with these same problems ..... no problems last year while under warranty

I can reply for the hinges. I fixed mine by taking the door down and applying Gorilla glue per instructions. I can't believe they still use this design. I fixed 4 doors over time.

Hi mslater,

The kitchen sink will fall if some of the support clips are missing. From the few posts I've seen over the years, the factory seems to miss this once in a while. Fortunately, JohnDar has posted some helpful info and pictures on how to fix it. Here's a link.

The Norcold fridges have had a couple of posts about a module on the back of the frig getting wet while washing the trailer, and one or two with failed cooling units. You might call Norcold to see what advice they can offer, but they'll probably tell you to get to an authorized dealer.

Fantastic Fans are pretty reliable. I don't suppose you're in a cold weather location where the cover might have frozen shut. Also, there are some controls on the fan that can override the thermostat. If that's not it, I think they have a 2 year warranty from the manufacturer, so you might give them a call. I think this might be their number: 800-521-0298.

Thanks ....sink fell when the wood strips that have the clips came unglued, the mobile service guy said the cooling unit on refri. Needs to be replaced ...takes 10 days to get a new one....fantastic fan won't open on its own in auto

On the fantastic fan thing. I find that mine doesn't like to open by itself if it has not been used for three or four weeks. I also found that by turning it on, waiting a few seconds, turning back off, and then on again for a few seconds and repeating a couple of times it will open on its own. I think it has to do with the vent cover being a little stuck against the base and the multiple on/off actions seem to break it loose.

My "Fantastic Fan" caused me some problems. I had to operate it manually, then like magic it started working again. I dont know if using that manual knob has something to do with it.

You have gotten good advise to date - my 2012 had hinge problems, about 8 doors, gorilla glue solved all the problems. My Fantastic Fan didn't work, the thermostat installation caused a short, Fantastic sent me a new themostat and once I replaced the 12v fuse and cleaned the wood splinters behind the Fantastic Fan thermostat and installed the new one problem solved. I installed a cover over the vent cover and that seems to help the FF vent cover from sticking.

I have also had problem with the door hinges. We also fixed them using Gorilla glue (great stuff). My fan never worked until dealer replaced the thermostat. These have been the only problems we have experienced with our Big Horn. Love this 5er.

The wood strips that the sink clips are attached to falling off is a new one. Most of the reported problems are the result of missing clips. A construction adhesive, something like PL-400, would probably take care of that. To do it right, you'll need to disassemble the sink from the strips and lower it out of the way. Then apply the glue to the wood and clamp them back in position. Might want to leave it like that for 24 hours before hanging the sink back up to allow it to fully cure. When you rehang the sink, run a small bead of clear silicone around the edge where the sink meets the counter to prevent water running under the counter.

there was at least 12 clips on the sink , but the screws they put in for the clips protruded all the way thru and the points were pushing on the counters thus losing the wood strips ,it was the back strips, that are near impossible to get to with the sink in place that gave way .

12 clips and too long screws sounds like some rookie installer got the job. If you can, take some photos and measurements of the screws vs. the wood strips. Heartland might find them useful as a training aid in how NOT to install a sink.

.... the fantastic fan won't open in automatic.
I had a Fantastic fan that wouldn't open automatically also. I spoke with Fantastc Fan tech support and they said that the problem was the cover sticking to the gasket. They said to wipe the gasket with Aerospace 300 and it will prevent the sticking. It works!

X2 on the sticking cover to the gasket. Get on the roof, clean the gasket and cover and wipe it with 303 protectant. You might have to do it 2 times a year. Turn the fan on and use the manual knob to force the cover open.

On the Fantastic Fan, do you have a cover over it? That might also help keep it clean (and allow you to have it open in the rain).

My fan has a cover on it . The seal has been lubed .the rain sensor cleaned. The thermostat has been jumped out . It shuts down sometimes and works in manual.....the fan even worked periodically like it should than it stops.was told today my extended warranty was paying for a new cooling unit for the refrigerator minus $100 detuctable and $100 for a service call , but can't get parts for 10 days .....seems crazy it takes so long

Our fantastic fan closes automatically when it rains.

So would mine, if I removed the MaxxAir cover over it. But, with the cover on, the rain sensor doesn't do anything, which is how I want it. When it's raining out and I don't need/want the A/C on, I can leave some covered windows open and use the fans (all 3 have covers) to move air.

When we leave the rig unattended and closed up for extended periods at the campsite, I leave the fan thermostat set to open and vent the rig if it gets too hot inside.

Mslater was it the overheat temp module? If so you can reset it with a magnet until you can replace it. As others have stated gorilla glue works well on the hinges.
I have replaced the overheat temp module, Central heat circuit board, both ac's and the converter the 12v side went out. You can run off a 12v battery charger until you can replace the converter. Also 6 point leveling system display went out. I have had the rv for a year and a half special order.

mobile rv tech said the cooling unit was shot (what ever that means ) lucky i had purchased a 5 year extended warranty …. he said it would have cost $2200 to fix . he has 4 more Norcolds waiting on repair parts …. still cost me $200 and 2 weeks without a refrigerator, it had only been used for 9 months
