Honestly it's kind of hard to tell, because they lock in the gears with certain models and then when it goes up, other things change as well. Consulting the 2013 Ford Towing Guide yields (these are all 6.7L Diesel numbers):
F350 SRW 3.31 or 3.55 max 15,900
F350 DRW 3.73 22,200 (22,800 without the pickup box)
F450 DRW 4.30 24,700
So when you go from 3.31 or 3.55 to 3.73 there is a big increase, but that counts the dual rear wheels as well. Apparently still in 2013 if you have a F350 SRW you can choose between 3.31 or 3.55 and the max tow is the same (so why not choose 3.31?), if you have a F350 DRW you are stuck with 3.73 as the only option, and if you have a F450 DRW your only option is 4.30. Not sure why you can't have a choice of what you want with Ford, but there it is...
