When you change gears in the axles be sure to change the speedometer drive gear to match or have the speedo. recalibrated so you don't wind up with incorrect readings..Don

You can have the speedometer calibrated at the computer by the dealer. If I had it to do over I would go with 4.10 gears, but I traded the truck for the one in my signature.

Regarding all the discussion about gear rations, our with the 3.55 seems to be perfect. We get great milage (13-20) towing or empty with light loads (Augusta). Havent really tied on to a large load yet as we usually tow those with the F550.

We just got a new 2011 3500 gmc with 373 gears, our trip last week and this week traveling 100km (about 62 mph) we got 14.5 miles /gal that is 19.3 litres per hundred km, there was only 1 hill that it dropped back into 5th gear. This did not happen with our 07 2500 on the same trip.
