AC Humm

We have a 2012 Bighorn 3070RL Our AC has been doing a lot of running in Sarasota, Fl the last 5 days and it has a worriesome humm, it just did it three times with in minutes with the fan slowing down and after the third time the fan switched to high. It's like it can't make up it's mind what to do high or low. Since my warranty runs out in 3 months and it won't be used in hot weather again I'm wondering what to do. It's currently on high but has hesitated twice. Strange. Has anyone noticed this with theirs?

Take it to an authorized dealer and exercise your warranty. There could be something caught in the condenser cooling fan that is causing the noise and creating a drag on the fan blades.

I too would start with shoreline voltage. Had a similar problem in campground once, when I continued on trip to a different campground, problem solved. Take a voltage reading.

Thanks for your Posts - Voltage was fine, I keep a constant check on that with a plug in meter, plus the resort we were staying at has always had more then adequate power. I haven't taken a voltage reading though. Now we are home and I'll have to see if I can duplicate it. But first I think I might call the Dometic AC group and pick their minds. I've found that when you do call most vendor's are very helpful. I'm really getting suspicious of the Thermostat, I read the posted operating manual and I'm re-reading it because I think I read something there about the degree spacing. I'll keep you posted

If your AC in your BH was like ours in our 2012 BH when the A/C is on AUTO and it reaches 2-3 degress above its set temp it will cycle to a low mode. This cycling sounds like the A/C is confused. Pay attention to it and see if it is droping from high fan to a low fan speed when in the AUTO mode. If so this is normal. To elimenate this set it to run on high, no auto. It will also cycle from a low fan speed to high fan speed if temp goes above the 2-3 degree range.

Thanks Murry - I'm beginning to think it's me not the AC, what you described is what it does sound like, it was hot and humid, upper 80's and the humidity was close to that also. So the conditions had it working overtime. It was the humming between hi and low that were beginning to worry me. Plus if it's not running I want to address it while I have warranty.

Check you may have a 2 year warranty on A/C if so you may want to call Heartland service and question a check. Heartland Service number is on Forum page. They can tell you right away if there is a problem or not. I use them often and they are great.
