Recently purchased a 2010 Bighorn 3410RE which has a Carrier AC with a remote control. AC will not turn on with remote control, installed new batteries and reset the remote control, still did not work. Any suggestions?

My brother had an SOB with the remote.
When it became a problem it was the receiver for the remote that was the problem.

Peace

The A/C will run if started from the "Emergency Cool" button on the unit . The remote is unresponsive until the unit starts, then it comes alive !! But none of the button functions work except the "on Timer" button, which when pushed shuts the unit down. We have New Batteries in remote. We did find a circuit board in one of the drawers and a lot of writing on the A/C owners manual. It appears this board has been replaced before. I'm wondering if I need to start throwing money at this problem or just see about replacing the wireless with a standard thermostat.

BTW ... Thanks to both of you for the replies. I popped the top on the unit and cleaned the dirt dauber nests off the fan wheel and it runs smoothe now. Still wont operate with the remote, but runs fine in the "EMERG. MODE" My question now is, does the same remote control the gas furnace ? i thought the thermostat below the carrier remote controlled the furnace, but it controls the roof vent fan ...

Thanks all, I guess I just need to have it looked at to determine where the problem lies. I'll post when I have answers.
