ATF: Big Country - Popping noises in front of trailer

This is our second year in our 3510RL, we are very satisfied with the unit but a strange thing is happening in the bedroom of the trailer. Any time a day or night popping noises are coming from the front area of the fifth wheel. This happens with or without movement inside. It seems to be coming from underneath the forward fifth wheel section of the unit and is loud enough to disturb sleep. From the beginning of use there was a rather loud consistent squeak in the floor at the right corner in front of the bureau of drawers. Since the popping noises have started this is no longer prevalent. I don't know if this have any significants. We have auto leverlers which appear to be stable, there is no change of level in the unit. Please give me inside to the problem.

Thanks
Mark

It seems that is a common problem with the leveling system.
Lippert has a recommended fix for that.
Some people have has success, others not so much.
Follow THIS LINK for more information.
That information is found in the "Tools" section located near the top of this page.

Hi beverlyval7,

Lippert has a published notice on noise from the landing gear (with leveling systems). They've found the noise to be caused by a stiction problem and recommend exchanging 1 or 2 quarts of the hydraulic fluid with an anti-stiction fluid. This has reduced or eliminated the noise for many of us. From posted comments, it's been fairly effective, but not 100% effective. For some it's been a complete fix. For others, a partial fix. For a few, it hasn't helped at all.

If it's not 100% effective for you, you may find it helpful to reduce the extension of the front jacks by setting blocks in place before lowering the front landing gear. And some of us have found it helpful on concrete to use inexpensive plastic cutting boards from Walmart so the landing gear can make micro adjustments.

Here's a link to the Lippert LIP Sheet.
