I would not use the OEM shocks because they don't perform as a shock absorber at all...a toddler can compress them. Monroes (555001) blow out, but so far Bilsteins have held up greatl and the 5er seems to ride very well. I installed Crysler front shocks for 80s rear wheel drive cars. They were stock at local auto supply store. They are gas shocks with the right lenght and arrangement.
