Attention Ground Control owners

We have the Rieco Titan Ground Control 4 point system installed on our 2011 BH 3670RL. We got a surprise when we picked up our coach and tried to retract the front landing gear. The left landing gear refused to go up all the way. When retracting, it would not go any further with about 5 inches of travel remaing. Now, with the 5 inches left, it makes the same sound as if it was already up all the way.

We called Rieco Titan's technical support number in our manual but they referred us to Lippert (who bought the rights to this system). After reaching the wrong department at Lippert, they finally gave me the correct number. I got a human on the phone at that new phone number but all they could tell me was how to do a manual retract. After I explained that the motor was running but the jack wouldn't go to the limit, their recommendation was to take it to a repair shop. Conclusion: no support from either company. I guess I can still buy replacement parts from Lippert.

We have a generator mounted in the front compartment making access to this jack super challenging. The jack seems to be going up and down normally except it can't retract all the way.

Anyone have a hunch as to what might be going on? Thanks.

Hmmm. We had a rear jack get "stuck" in the fully retracted state. We ended up removing the leg. After having the same runaround trying to get someone to help, a gentleman called and walked me through using the manual operation. I kept explaining it was stuck and not budging -- he kept telling me to try harder. I think I ended up using a hammer on the socket wrench to get it to "break free". I never would have thought to use so much force, but he assured me it was fine. You might try the manual retract instructions again.

Has this been an ongoing issue or did it just happen once.

Sounds like the worm gear has gotten stuck because its been over tighten. We had to take the motor off to get to the worm gear breaking the gear loose (I think I had to also use a hammer to break it free). Be careful not to hold the remote button down too long. Once you hear the first click, let off the button. This will prevent over torquing the gear.

Yes, I am always careful to release the button at the first sign it is at the stops and at the first click. It will do the same click now at the 5 inch position.

Ours just happened once. We marked the legs so we don't over-retract them.

Well, I guess I need to figure out a way to get back in there (around the generator shroud) and try the manual (hammer) method.

We just installed the 4-point Ground Control on our Elkridge, so not much experience with it yet.

But if you're referring to the "click-click-I'm-done" noise, and that you're hearing it too early... that sounds to me like the gear is slipping.
Not sure if taking the motor head off and reattaching it would re-align the gears and/or get them tightly connected again... But it might be worth a shot.

We had an issue with ours in getting the right brackets for installing around the slide mechanism on the back jack.
We had to go through about 4 people, but once we got someone (via email) they were persistent in trying to help.
Keep calling Lippert service... hopefully you'll get the right person on the phone, eventually.

I'll PM you some of the contacts we went through... maybe they can help.

If your rig is set up like my Cyclone, you should be able to remove the forward wall in the basement and have very good access to the landing gear area. I just replaced my landing gear again - sorry to say I'm getting too good at it.

I need to report back on the (fix) for our front jack. Extending the jacks to park the coach again was enough to (correct) the binding that was happening when we retracted. Now it will retract all the way without any restriction, go figure. It is a mystery to me as to why it had a problem, but I know now to extend them if they bind again.

Sonny Dismuke is no longer with Lippert. Not sure who has taken over with sales/installation of the Wireless Ground Control Leveling System at Lippert.

I know this is an old thread, but Rieco Titan is still in business and sells a similar system to Ground Control for Truck Campers. When we lost our remote, I emailed their customer service and got answers quickly. They were able to sell me a new remote at a slightly discounted price.
