Awning on 400FL Oakmont

Have a friend that just took delivery of a Oakmont 400FL. The awning runs from the front door over the dining slide out towards the rear door. When the awning is extended the material of the awning is being pushed up by the slide out, which has very sharp corners. This will not last more than a week or so resting on the slide out. He said the dealer told him to bring it back and they will "fix it". The only way this can be fixed is to replace the arms so that the awning extends straight out. The awning is not mounted more than 3 or 4" above the slide out.

Does anyone else have the 400FL with the awning mounted the same way? If the awning goes straight out it will be about 12' above ground level.

We have the EXACT problem with ours too. The material almost tore during some wind one day. The dealer is going to replace it but I'm not sure how it got away from the factory like this. POOR quality and design!
