Awning rumbles when retracting?

I got to wondering if it is normal for the awning to make a rumbling sound when retracting? It does it the loudest in the last 3-4 feet before it's all the way in. This is the first electric awning we've used so never thought to ask before. Thanks! Tom M.

Mine sometimes squeeks or makes some noise, I use spray sylicone or WD40 and spray all the moving parts and that helps.

Depending on the alignment of the arms, it may just be friction vibration being transmitted to the walls of the trailer.

Our electric awning makes noise when retracting like a fabric on fabric grabbing as the vinyl slips on itself under the tension between the struts and the motor. (if that makes sense)

Makes sense to me Steve! I was just wondering if something was out of whack with the arms or something. Extends and retracts pretty easily, just wondered about the noise. Tom M.

A friend at the Il. rally found that this rumble was caused by the dry rubber cylinder seals rubbing on the cylinder shafts. A spray of WD40 on each one and no more rumble and vibration. Sure makes it a lot nicer running the awning in and out. Thanks Tom M.
