Awning strut gone bad

It figures, just as every RV place is closing for the Holidays my strut by the entry door went bad and one side of the awning is sloping down because of it. Anyone know where I can get a strut for an 8500 electric awning ?? Does anyone know, since the awning is out and the strut is bad can the awning be retracted with the bad strut since one side of the awning is hanging low ?? I would think probably not but not sure. Thanks,
Bobby A

It's hard to say without seeing it but I would try pushing it up while someone ran the switch to retract the awning. I had this happen on my Cyclone once but it was caused by the awning not being correctly aligned and not by a bad strut. In my case I went up on the roof and slide the awning in the track at the top to realign it and it worked fine after that.

Bobby, you might want to jot down some numbers off the strut and take them to an auto parts store. They may be able to cross reference and find a replacement for you.

Peace

Good idea Dave, that would of been my last resort, I did find a company in Tx. that had the part in a warehouse and will ship it 2nd day air, I should have it on Monday. Thanks,

Bobby, I hope it wasn't UPS. We had a big ice storm in North Texas 2 weeks ago and it really screwed up UPS and their distribution hubs here in the Dallas area. Packages are still running late, even those shipped/in transit a few days ago. My 3-day air package took 4 days to come the last 25 miles. A package shipped ground to me on Monday should have arrived today, but now UPS tracking says it's delayed.

I have a request from Bobby for a little help. He has a part on his awning that he's looking for a part number. I've attached a picture. It's the little rubbery/pliable end protector on the end of the main support arem. I believe it also acts as a spacer for both sides of the adjustable support adjustment arm. I've looked at the A&E manuals here on the forum with no luck. Anyone?
Sorry about the picture size.
