Big Horn People

In the middle of Missouri on the trip from H.....What else can happen??? Latest incident: Pulled into the big rig pull-thru site and the RV left back tires immediately sank up to the frame into freshly dug up "gumbo" type mud..RV park owners didn't even hint that it was there and that others had gotten stuck before. As RV park owner came to help, his offer was: If we had a strap he'd pull us out with his Ford 150. We have a 3500 dually 4x4 and couldn't do it...how could he? After DH gave his response to this ridiculous suggestion, there was much tension between us all. In the end a tow truck was called and after an hour of pulling and hand digging, our truck and his truck pulling together finally got us free with a little damage to RV. BUT of all 60+ RVer's in the park, a Big Horn was right across from us and the owner graciously offered her camera for pictures (just in case we needed them) and offered water to us and a few comments about how many times this had happened and the owner had been warned to close the site until he got it fixed. Everyone else just gawked. It's true, Big Horn owners are special. Hopefully, one day we can "pass it forward."

We're at the Kan-Do RV Campground south of Montgomery City (closest place we could get to a Cajun Festival at Hermann). Hope you're not friends with the owners, but we call it as we see it. Shady sites, close together, soft sites, and sites over-all giving the impression that more landscaping care should be taken. Is that tactful? Will not be back.

On the upside...we stayed at Chipmonk Crossing RV Park 8 miles south of West Plains (middle of nowhere, off a county road) that was superb. Swimming pool (clean!), large shady pull thrus....grounds, restrooms, shower facilities extremely clean. Walking trail--with a picnic table half=way. All hookups and very friendly and cordial hosts. Small, but Highly recommend.

abinns... I am not that familiar with Montgomery City ,so no way would I know the owners.
Chipmonk sounds like a nice place, like the place DW and I stayed at this weekend in Forsyth MO, Shoals Bend RV resort. It used to be a KOA, and was run down, till new owner bought, the place is small, but it is as clean as a whistle. Owners are very nice folks, as are the work campers there. The owner buys run down CG's cleans them and builds up a good clientel, and then sells the CG. This is the 5 th CG he has had and is improving it daily.

Thanks for that info and will keep that place in mind. We are actually traveling in that direction now (160 West) but will turn south shortly. So far, no bad luck today.

Shoals Bend is on Hwy76 about a mile from the intersection of 160/76, go south over the bridge then they are on left at top of the hill
