Black water flushing

Jim, the tank indicators are notorious for not being accurate so, many of us, rely on other indicators to show when we need to dump...I.e. Toilet "burping," water backup in sink or shower, etc.

Thank you. I had wondered about how reliable those indicators are. I'll watch for the other signs that the tanks are full.

Cheers,
Jim

Our previous Heartland Trail Runner had a rear kitchen, which had it's own gray tank drain near the back of the trailer. On the same side in front of the wheels there was another drain dump for the front bathroom with both gray and black drain valves.I had a 'Y' connection so both could be hooked up at the same time.

Thanks for the input. I am quite certain that there is only one grey water tank and I've only found the one dump valve. The next step is to take it back to the dealer when I get home and have them show me!

Jim

Thanks Dave,

I've been under the rig pretty thoroughly but I'll look again. Next step is to take it back to the dealer when I get home and have them show me!

Well, mystery solved!!! Just as Dave indicated in his post, a more through inspection revealed that the handle on the grey water tank valve had in fact fallen off!! I was able to drain both the black and grey water tanks, using a pliers to open the grey water tank valve. Back to the dealer for a warranty fix!!

Many thanks for the feedback and suggestions. This forum is a great help to a newbie like me!

When we took our Trail Runner on it's first campout* I discovered that one of the handles had fallen off (and the other was two pot holes away from falling off as well) . . . before I had ever had a chance to use it once.

When I reported that (along with several other warranty issues), I was told that the lost handle was not covered under warranty, but gladly sold me a new one for $15 bucks!

If I wear to remove the anti siphon valve eliminating the 90 degree going up to the back of the shower and making a 180 threw the valve coming back down to another 90 over to the tank and just straight lined the water line with a check valve, would I get better water pressure for rinsing the black tank? I would think I would. any thought?
