Broken window prop

I have a 2011 Edge M21 and one of our window props became over extended and separated. I've reinserted one post into the other but it stops at the last position before closing. I don't want to try to force it shut. My wife believes she may have seen a small part fall to the ground when the prop over extended and came apart but if a part fell out we cannot find it. Being a rookie at this I have a number of questions:

1. Is this a simple fix or should I replace it?
2. If it is a simple fix, can someone explain it to me.
3. If it is better to replace the part, where do I find the name and number to order a new one? Where are good parts sources to check?

Thank you for any help you can provide. Rodney

can you post a picture (or 2) so we can see the problem?
Sure and thank you for asking. Since the post I spoke with the parts folks at the dealership where I bought the travel trailer. They don't have the parts but they helped me narrow down the description. It is an 8" window operator. Sometimes it's called and actuator but googling that often brings up electrical ones used in car locks. It is not gas operated but functions with a series of click-and-hold movement or click-and-release as the two parts of the operator slide back and forth in use. Here's pic #1 of the operator still assembled and working properly in the closed position:

Here's a pic of the one that doesn't work and is separated so that I can close the window:

Again, thank you for asking and I appreciate any information you can share. Rodney

HI rsteele,

Try posting your pictures again. The system will not accept pictures until you have made 2 or 3 post.

I think you need to have 3-4 posts before you can attach a picture. Keeps the spammers out.

Reply again....with "Hi"

Then try to attach picture again. :)

Hi to all of you! :)

Ok, thanks. Here are the pics in the same order as mentioned earlier. One working and closed, the other broken.

Hope this goes through and helps describe the problem. Again, thanks!

I'm not sure that the pics made it passed the protocols.

You should have enough now.

Just use the picture icon (middle row from this screen of icons)....will say "insert image" when you put your mouse over it.

This is the one that is working although the pic loaded sideways. It is in the closed position.

This is the broken one (pic also loaded sideways). The part laying in in the window inserts in the one hanging vertically above it.

Again, thank you.
