Barring an obvious obstruction, you might want to check the slide mechanism adjustment first. You will have to remove the top fascia to access the mechanism. This video may help.

2017 North Trail 26LRSS with Acu cable slide jerking and making noise, need help.

After you check the cables and if these are okay, I believe it is the gear box going bad. We had our go out in Colorado Springs, Co. in 2021.
Our slide did the same issue, jerk and made a grinding noise.
Finding a gear box in Colorado Springs was almost impossible, but I found a mobile tech that had one on his truck. He wouldn't sell me the gearbox but would install it for $150 installation fee. So, he had it installed in about 45 minutes.
