Cargo Bay Doors

I recently had my 2012 Sundance repaired after getting caught in a major hailstorm. When I picked it up, the cargo door on the entrance door side (which had to be replaced) was not the slam latch door that was originally on it. It was a door like the one on the front cargo area. When I questioned the manager about it (Coach Specialists), he said he called Heartland and was told that these were the doors they are now putting on their RV's. I'm not sure he was telling me the truth. Is this true? Has anyone had a similar experience?

The slam latches are such a nice feature. If you look on Heartlands a Website you will see that they are using this type of latch on a lot of their units.

Your dealer may may not have sourced the parts from heartland, they may have used an aftermarket supplier.

I would request that they refit the door with what was on it originally.

I went to Heartland's website, & in the "Standards & Options" section for Sundance, they advertise slam latch doors as standard, plus all the photos I saw of Sundance 5ers looked like they had slam latch doors.

First, I would call Heartland customer service and as what doors should be on the coach. Second, slam hatch were on the coach, and slam hatch should be put back on. Third, I passed a new Sundance on I-90/94, mile 92, WI, going west and it had slam hatch doors on it. It was going to a dealer as it was being pulled by a trailer delivery driver. Good luck.

You might want to contact Heartland to find out if the dealer actually ordered the door from them.

Have your VIN and someone should be able to track the service record of your coach.

The 1st thing I would do is...call your insurance company and tell them not pay the claim. Maybe even stop payment on the deductable check you gave them. I would have not even taken it from their lot until they made it right. You where flat out lied to. Can you call someone a lair now in out PC world?? For all you know its a used door that they got somewhere. I'm sorry, but I would have gone banana's about this.

The problem you have now is....you accepted there lie, paid your deductable, and took your coach. I hope you have some recourse now.
