Diesel Fuel Conditioner

I have a "horizontal Fuel Conditioner" on my 2008 350 Ford Diesel truck, and the "drain fuel conditioner" lite came on today. It's right under the driver's seat, on the frame next to the transmission. I discovered that the lever, used to open & close the drain, had been broke off by either the previous owner or some mechanic. My question, for anyone who may be familiar with this setup, is whether or not I can just loosen up the 3 machine screws to let out the water. Would be easy to do, and save a bundle of $$ if I have to have the whole module replaced because of a simple, plastic lever that broke off. Just love those plastic parts!!
