Dining Table

Can someone help me figure out what this black metal contraption is under the dining table? I can’t figure out a use for it other than a knee banger! Than you!!

I think that's for the table extension.
Unsnap it and pull the extension out. Probably spring loaded in that knee knocker metal part.

Dave is correct !! A table extension !! Unsnap the little plastic strap, Pull out on the t-handle .. the table then can slide out (extend) apx 10" to 12", and the t-handle snaps back in to lock in extended position. Note: It is NOT spring loaded. Reverse procedure BEFORE putting in the Dining slide !!
