Dodge lift pump

Well today i started my trip making my way to the rally and 400 miles up the road from crystal river florida the check engine light came on and the info panel read see dealer now and i started losing power on i 26 in s carolina so i limped into a cg and went to a dealer and he said the lift pump is bad to a tune of $1100.00 any body have this issue with a dodge it is a 2008 6.7 with 69,000 on it. No wise cracks please thanks richard

Richard, I am pretty sure that what has happened to your truck is that the primary pump that feeds the injectors has failed. That is what is called the lift pump.
If the engine was missing or had other problems you should look for other problems. Good luck with your problem. You also might want the dealer to check
and make sure that the front seal in the bad pump did not leak diesel fuel in to the engine crankcase.
