Dodge....Maybe?

I believe the latest flash J35 is mandatory recall and therefore should be covered by dealer.

I always drive with the exhaust brake on to help prevent soot buildup. Around town drive it in 4th to keep revs up.

Don't baby it. Keep revs up past 1700-1800.

Having said that I have 20k on mine as daily driver and only towed 1000 miles end of September.

Trust us you will like it.

BTW the new RAMs are much nicer inside. Go get some stimulus money and buy a new one. LOL

What caused 90% of the problems for the 6.7, was the grocery getters and the long idles. This did not allow the exhaust to get hot enough to passive regenerate, clean the DPF, so people were getting Catalyst full messages. It likes nothing better than getting a load on its back and running it down the road!

What do they consider long idle times? Are flashes for the computer handled $$ wise through the dealer or is it at the owners expense?

Thanks
Jamie
Jamie, the J-35 flash is the latest and it was done on mine free at the dealership. It is supposed to clear up sooting in the turbo. I never had any problems with mine before or after the flash. Actually, my fuel mileage increased after the flash.

Long idle times can cause problems in the particulate filter. It is best to not let it sit for 45 minutes idleing while you shoot the breeze with your neighbor. Common sense type thing. These Cummins turbo engines like to run hard, not sit at idle. I have not had any problems idleing while hitching or unhitching etc. and that is my only down time to speak of.

My 2010 will speed up on its own if left idling for a period. I leave the exhaust brake on all the time except when the roads might be slick. Don't want to be dragging just the rear wheels and put it in a skid. I was never a big Dodge fan but this one is pretty impressive. I'd recommend one to anybody. Wanted a new Ford but this one was about 15k less when I bought it and I know the Cummins is a proven package...Don

Atta Go Jamie!

You sure got a great rig. Unreal only 9000 miles.

Your face should hurt from the huge smile. LOL

Now go tie it on to your neighbours house and take it for a drag. That truck will move it, believe me.

You will not regret it! Don't be surprised if you find your self wondering why you had not done it be for now.

Just read your cons that the truck is an ST. You can dress it up yourself ,ie, stepups , side mold trim and aluminum grilles are all available on the net.
For a few hundred dollars you can dress the outside rather nicely.
Also, you can unplug the egr valve and improve fuel mileage 2 - 3 MPG, mine has been unplugged for over 30m miles , I get 17.5 mpg around town and towing my Sundance get 12 mpg.
Good luck with your new ride.

If you go here https://www.dodge.com/hostb/crossbrand/owners/en/ and on the left side down the page a bit you can check for recalls by entering the VIN.

Here http://www.dodge.com/bodybuilder/2007/docs/intro/vin.pdf you will fine how to decode VIN for 2007. Don't see anything for gears though.

Ask for the build sheet. It will have it. You can get this from Dodge if dealer won't give it to you. But they should be able to.

Oh and here is a link to Dodge where you can request the build sheet and they will email it to you. http://www.dodge.com/wccsapp/universal/D/index.jsp?appStr=wccs&titleStr=Contact+Dodge&familyStr=brand&franchise=D&actionURL=%2Fwccs%2Fbrand_forms%2Fus%2Fwebform.jsp&promotion=null&category=U

Thanks for the links, I emailed Chrysler yesterday for a build sheet and got it via email today. Very interesting reading and a nice addition to our binder of receipts we keep with the truck. Thanks and congrats to Jamie on the truck like the others said you won't be sorry.

Thanks for the info. I got the build sheet today. It answered 2 questions....it has 3.73 gear ratio and it needs the J35 flash done. I'll call the Dodge dealer on Monday.

Again, thanks for the info.
