Dometic Microwave/Convection Failure

Our microwave sparks and only humms when you turn it on.I think it needs replacement or repair.
We are thinking about going microwave only as the convection part never gets used.We have tried
the convection part but without success(maybe it never has worked).A Dometic replacement for
this oven(model DOTRC17SS) is $800 US.A nice microwave over the range with fan is $300 to $400
Has anyone switched their Micro/Convention or had it repaired?

We had ours repaired. The convection part never did work and the wife loves that part of it. The repairman came to the house twice to repair it. You might want to check on the warranty period before you act.

We had an F5 on our Dometic Microwave/Convection too. We called Dometic, looked online, and talked to several repair places and they all said the same thing and that is there is no repair for the F5 fault. We used our extended warranty to get it replaced. Only cost us the $50 deductible. You are right though as the a new one is right at $875.00. BTW that is our third replacement oven. The other two just quit and were replaced under warranty.

TerryH has replaced his. His was an Amana and he replaced it with a GE. Landmark uses a standard 30" opening so most 30" microwaves should work.

We replaced ours last year, just went to Lowes and bought one. Microwaves are pretty much standardized in size so don't waste you money on a Dometic. We had to change our mounting brackets, vent was in the same place.

One of the cool features of the Frigidaire unit that came with our trailer is that if there is a problem while under warranty, the company sends a technician to you wherever you are to make any needed repairs.
