The line painting was being done east/west side of Wolf Creek Pass roadway....sorry about the confusion.

Don thought I should add this bit of info: As you are driving north from Durango on Hwy 550 to the United Campground entrance: the right hand turn onto CR 203 for United Campground is a "hairpin turn".
Additional info: before you get to the turn-off of CR 203, Hwy 550 takes a slight turn to the right...just enough so the entrance to CR 203 can surprise you. As you are driving along Hwy 550 you will see the United Campground sign as well as the campground itself (Hwy 550 is above the campground, Animas River and the train tracks). There is a mile marker before you have to turn off of Hwy 550, MM25 (right side, little green sign); also, @ the CR 203 turn-off is the entrance to the "Iron Horse Inn" (huge sign).
Hope this helps...drive safe, see you soon.

PS
temp @ park last night about midnight was 55; this morning @ 6:30 it was 44. It's 11 am right now and it's 72:). Weather Channel phone app says nice weather through Saturday with day time highs in the mid 60's-low 70's & night time lows in high 30's-low 40's. Possible rain on Sunday...think western slope/dry as a cracker!

D & J (and Bonnie too!),

Weather will be in your favor. We had some wind today but hopefully it will be back to "calm" for you. Lou and Marilyn got here this afternoon so Don and I are no longer alone...we are anxious to get this rally underway!
Drive safe, see you soon,

Monica

The campgrounds directions say if you are coming from Durango, VEER off on CR203 about a mile before where you turned off and did the hairpin turn. Then proceed about 1 mile and it's on the right.

The weather has me worried - our Bighorn is in the middle of a large dirt/grass field, and when it gets wet, it turns to GREASE. So we are headed down to Gardner today, and hopefully over to Lathrop (west side of Walsenburg) for this evening. Hope to be there Thursday noonish!

TravelTiger,
Pizza sounds good...haven't had pizza for a while. We will have to check it out...maybe lunch today!?

Al/Skyguy,
Yes, there is a "side-jog" of CR 203 off of US 550 about a mile before the turn-off I referred to...but we were following our GPS instructions at the time. Since then we have seen this but still continue to take the original route. The "veer-off" appears to wind thru housing area (you can see some of it from 550 since 550 is above).
Lathrop will hopefully be far enough south from the yukky weather; good luck with the "grease"; see you soon, drive safe!

We are having a great time meeting all the new (to us) folks who are in attendance here at the spring rally in Durango, Co. The weather has been great, although a little chilly when the sun goes down. Lots of good food and good conversations. Certainly glad we signed up. Many thanks to Don and Monica, the new chapter leaders, for all their hard work.

Would have liked to been there to meet Dean & Jodi from MO-lalla. We used to live in West Linn.
Have fun.
