Has anyone had their Fresh water tank drop out of their trailer. I have been told by my service advisor that this has been a problem with Heartland trailers.

Hi Polanski,

Welcome to the Heartland Owners Forum and maybe to the family. We have a great bunch of people here with lots of information and all willing to share their knowledge if needed.

Your "service advisor", who ever that may be, needs to play catchup about the units his dealer is selling. There were a few, 3--4 years back that had a problem with sagging tanks and a couple did get down on the axles I understand, and it was only on one line of 5th wheels, but that has since been corrected and no more problems. I do not know of any problems like that on the Northtrails.

Enjoy the forum.

Jimtoo I beg to differ. I last week on a trip one of my freshwater tanks fell to the ground while driving down the road. I have a 2009 Cyclone 4012. When I looked at the other fresh water tank that was still hanging there I noticed that it was really sagging in the middle and appeared that it was next to go. I looked at the welds that were holding the thin angle iron and they were not that great which leads me to believe that is what caused the failure. There is rust around where the angle iron was welded to the frame which I could not previously see because of the under layer. There was also no support brackets to hold up the middle of the tank. How was this issue solved in the past. I have spent too much money on the unit to have problems like this. Any advice would help.

thanks

Hi eric,

The above post is in reference to Northtrails. I do not know about any of the Cyclones for sure, but think that some may have had to reinforce the mounting for their tanks. Yours is an 09, did you buy new or used, how long have you had the unit? You might do a search for more info.

I just had to remount my fresh water tank in my 06 Landmark this week end, 07/03/11.
Here is the link to the thread I started //heartlandowners.org/showthread.php/25165-I-have-one-for-you-all!?p=186488#post186488

Jimtoo,

I customed oredered the Cyclone about 2 1/2 years ago and have nothing but trouble with it since. Over the weekend I was able to get under the trailer and remount the tanks. I noticed that 3 out of the 4 angle pieces that were holding up the 2 tanks were bolted to the frame while the one that broke was only welded. At first I thought the welds just did not hold but the welds were fine and it was the material that failed and ripped off from the frame. The angle that was used was pretty light weight for holding up a full water tank. Also while I was under there I noticed that my holding tank is about to go also so I will have to modify that also. I agree with the others on the site that this is just a very poor design with the tanks.

I had a 3950 cyclone and for some reason I had the bottom cover off and noticed the sagging water tanks. I put steel straps between each cross member on all of the tanks to hold them from spreading and put the plywood on top of these straps. I also added a little height to the doorside end of the tanks to help get the fluids to drain toward the outlet ends. Yes dumb design.

My 2010 Sundance 3300RLb has a sagging fresh water tank as well...

Looks like the factory needs to do some investigating...Cyclone, Landmark, Sundance, and North trail...doesn't appear to be a trend but that's more bad apples than one would like from a manufacture.

I just discovered that both of my fresh water tanks are defective. They have cracked at the seam where the fitting joins the tank. I had been trying to find a tiny leak for months and only found it today because the leak is much worse. While inspecting underneath, I also spotted a strap on my rear grey water tank lying loose on the insulation. I'm starting to feel nervous about my choice in trailers. I love the look and features of the 2011 3010 Cyclone, but if it can't hold water...
I've heard great things about HL's customer service and that's a major reason I bought the Cyclone. Now I'll get to see for myself.
