Front ac leaking into camper

We have a 2016 BH3970 with the ducted AC units. Still under warranty, front AC unit is leaking into camper at the paneling seam on the ceiling. Camping World told us they would have to remove ceiling paneling in bedroom to replace the seal to the ac. Hard to believe they would have to rip apart interior of camper to replace a suspected ac gasket! Has anyone run across this before?

Hi dlsman54,

Welcome to the Heartland Owners Forum and to the family. We have a great bunch of folks here with lots of information and all willing to share their knowledge when needed.

If it is the gasket between the a/c and rv, that is replaced by removing 4 bolts and lifting a/c on the roof and replacing gasket there. There have also been some a/c's that had a couple extra mounting holes and were not being used that just needed to be sealed. But hear again it's on the roof with a/c cover removed. I think you need better explanation of where gasket is that they want to replace.

Be sure and check out our Heartland Owners Club. Join us at a rally when you can and meet lots of the great folks here and make friends for a lifetime.

Enjoy the forum.

Also make sure the drain holes on the outside bottom of the AC metal pan are not clogged up with dirt, debris. I even drilled 3 extra holes (1 at each corner) to drain the condensate water. You also need to have the rig fairly level for the condensate to drain properly from the AC to the roof.

No...they don't have to do that.

Run away from CW. More info needed though. AC make, model, leaking in rain, from condensate, freezing, all three....this has been a fairly common problem with some dometic units and there is a tsb. Don't let them touch it...

Call Heartland with vin and see if the TSB to seal the extra two mounting holes and drill extra drain holes in the drain pan have been completed. I did that TSB on mine myself last summer on both of my units. This is all done from the roof by removing the plastic cover and foam inter piece.
