How do I stop the gas bottles from freezing on the outside.

You don't. That is condensation collecting on the out side from high gas consumption. Very common in high humidity conditions.

I am not sure at what temperature that propane will freeze. But I have left it out in the shed, and the big tanks stay in the BH all winter with no problem. I even use twenty pounders for the barbecue in the middle of winter. I hope this helps. Ernie
