Stumbled across a 22k Reese 5th wheel hitch new in the box, at a very low price. Problem is it only tilts front to back. No side to side tilt. I'm thinking this could be a real problem on uneven terrain. Any comments?
Could not agree more.
In fact I don't know why they would make a hitch that does not move in all directions.
I have seen my trailer tilted 3,4 inches at the hitch.
One of members here "had" one. At the PA rally before Goshen 2 years ago it took us about an hour to get the truck re-connected to leave.
Granted, it was at teh extreme for level in a campground, but non the less, not something I would ever want to deal with.
They bought a hitch while at Goshen (as wells a few tires).
I had one years ago that didn't tilt side to side and yes, it can be a real PITA at times (I learned the hard way). I recommend not going with that type if at all possible.
Actually it is new, unassembled still in the original boxes with all the hardware sealed in the original packages. It was part of a "lot" of unclaimed freight that friend of mine bought. It's hard telling how long it's been sitting in an LTL carriers unclaimed inventory. If someone could use it, I'm sure he would make them a deal on it. I on the other hand just bought one of the new Reese R16's. Plenty of hitch for what I need and like the features.
