Well, after reading about people greasing their wheel bearings , today i pulled mine apart and redid them ! For the life of me i can't see where i improved on anything ! Nothing was loose, nut's we're tight , plenty of grease in there ,wheel's spun great with no dragging ! Oh well it's done now If this was a boat trailer and it was getting dipped in the water all the time that might be different ?

Time and mileage are the major factors, I think. If you don't pull it a lot, the grease can dry out. High mileage, and it can loose it's anti-wear properties (yet still appear "greasy"). The grease is only the carrier for the additive package, just like motor oil. Found out the hard way last summer on my pontoon trailer. It's only been moved a couple of hundred yards each year since 2005, but the first time I had to pull it 5 miles, I ended up replacing an entire hub due to bearing failure. Now they all have Bearing Buddy's on them and get lubed during the spring dewinterization at the marina.

So, since I don't get 12000 miles a year on my rig, I get the bearings repacked every 12 months. Why risk it?
