I have just had this extended stay trailer delivered to my seasonal site and would like to understand how the 2 grey water tanks work. I have a black water valve and a grey water valve. I understand one tank is for the kitchen and one for the bathroom which includes a hook up for washer/dryer. I have the grey water tank open and the black closed. How does one make sure both tanks empty. I have seen ref. to 3 valves but this one only has 2 at the sewer junction. Thanks.

Hi Quiltsnh,

Welcome to the Heartland Owners Forum and to the family. We have a great bunch of folks here with lots of information and all willing to share their knowledge when needed.

I'm sure some of our other members will jump in soon that have knowledge of the unit you have.

Enjoy the forum.

Hi Quiltsnh,

To find out if the single gray valve is for both gray tanks, try this:
1. Open the gray valve and drain everything.
2. Close the valve.
3. Run the kitchen faucet for 5 minutes.
4. Open the valve and check that the kitchen water comes out.
5. Let the water drain completely and close the valve.
6.Repeat for the bathroom shower.
7. Repeat for the washing machine if installed.

If all the sources come out by way of that one gray valve, you've got it covered. If not, you may need to call Heartland Customer Service at 877-262-8032 / 574-262-8030. Have your VIN # ready. They should be able to point you to the other gray valve.

It's possible but unlikely that any of the gray water sources go into the black tank. On toy haulers that have a half bath, the sink and toilet both drain into the rear black tank. But I've never heard of that on any other Heartland products.

hello

we also have just recieved the same trailer and same problem. The specs for ours says it has two grey tanks but i can only find one grey water valve. Does your gauges inside have a reading for gey tank #2? ours does and it reads full, i just don't know how to drain it to read empty.
