Help finding access to water heater

Hey all , I have a 2014 North Trail 23fbs I'm about to winterize and am wondering if someone has pictures or info on how to access the rear of the water heater to bypass.
Thanks in advance...

Hi Kaumahunter,

Welcome to the Heartland Owners Forum and to the family. We have a great bunch of folks here with lots of information and all willing to share their knowledge when needed.

I don't have a North Trail, but looking at the Heartland site pictures, I am guessing that it is under the sink/counter area. Look outside for vent and go to same distance from door, most likely you will need to remove a drawer to get to rear of water heater.

Be sure and check out our Heartland Owners Club. Join us at a rally when you can and meet lots of the great folks here and make friends for a lifetime.

Enjoy the forum and your new unit.

If you have a suburban water heater, there should be a plug (anode) you can remove to drain it.

Just as a helpful hint, BE SURE THE ELECTRIC POWER IS TURNED OFF TO THE WATER HEATER BEFORE REMOVING THE DRAIN PLUG. Running the heating element without any water surrounding it will immediately fry the heating element.

You can contact Heartland customer service have your VIN # handy, they can probably tell you. It may be behind a false wall. Looking at your floorplan, I am not sure where... try to look at where the water heater access panel is on the exterior of the unit, then go directly behind that inside the rig.

Thanks for the welcome and quick replies. I know the heater is located under the fridge but it is inside a seemingly sealed cabinet. Was just hoping for a picture before I start dismantling. I might just call customer service on this one (thanks TravelTiger).

In our NorthTrail, it was behind a panel that just looked like wooden cabinet wall. There were 4 tiny screws in the corners that held it on. We eventually took the screws out, I put decorative brads in the holes, added a handle and held in place with Velcro so it was easier to access. We winter camped so we became skilled at winterizing/dewinterizing.
