hi dave,
we have coverage via our homeowners and auto policies plus separate roadside emergency service. these seem to cover everything we thought we would need.
what additional coverage do you suggest?
thanks for your help. :)

Sorry to chime in here but: I do not know if that policy covers everything particular to specific RV insurance.... my wife is in the biz and we have a specific RV policy besides our "umbrella" for home, auto, life etc.

sorry, to be confusing.
we have the typical home, auto and umbrella policy that covers collision damage and loss from theft, fire, etc. also we have the emergency roadside policy for towing, tire changes, etc.

can you tell me what policy you suggest that covers the rv and would include total replacement.
thanks for your help.

Jim & Harriet, I am not an insurance guy, but I believe that your umbrella is for liability only. Just a thought here, but if your RV is parked at a CG and a tree falls on it, it is not attaced to your TV nor is is on your home property, what policy will pay for the replacement? I'm thinking Jim and Harriet. There are many providers of RV insurance. I personally have GMAC through Good Sam. When I checked with my homeowner/auto provider, they depreciated the RV right off the bat and offered no replacement. Good Sam offers replacement coverage. I am sure that there are others as good or better. It's just my choice. Please do some checking around.
Peace
Dave

Jim and Harriet,
We purchased a separate insurance policy when we purchased our Sundance (this is in addition to homeowners, auto, and different umbrellas under those policies). There are quite a few insurance companies that write policies for RV'ers, Good Sam is one, but we selected RVAmerica Insurance as they offered replacement cost, versus other companies that only offer depreciated value. RVAmerica writes policies under American Modern Home Insurance Company in Cincinnati, OH.

I am not vouching this company over others, it was just the one I chose after searching the issue on the internet, and talking to several via the phone. Hope this helps.

FYI ... Insurance is through Explorer Insurance Agency and the insurance company is National Interstate Insurance. I have no doubt they will do the right thing. I have had this fulltimer coverage with 100% replacement for the first 5 years with a NEW RV comparable at todays price and it also has diminishing deductible of 25% each year you have no claim. This will be my 3rd year but I have gone 2 full years, no claims, so my deductible goes down to $500.00.

Just now got a call from my dealer who spoke with adjuster .... sounds like they will be able to get things worked out from what it sounded like. Will post later!

I wish you all the best on this. (and in a hurry!) What part of LA., are you in? When we eventually hit the road we may need your input for ideas on local restaurants WE MUST stop at that only the locals know about! :D

I'm in the Shreveport/Bossier City area .... lots of places to eat and things to do for visitors! Give me a holler! "The Boardwalk" on the Riverfront in Bossier City is the newest "hot spot" for shopping, eating, etc .... and we have riverboat casinos too, if you are into a little gambling and they also have great food and entertainment, so ..... you may have to be a little bit more specific if/when the time comes about what you're looking for .... you name it, we got it around here, probably!

Perfect!!! Our retirement trip is a ways off but we enjoy meeting people from all over the U.S. so that when we are going to be in that area we can write ahead and ask for assistance, suggestions etc. Especially when it comes to the local cuisine!!!!:D

State farm has rv insurance too with full replacement. They have replaced my yukon xl and a bumper pull rv when we totaled both rolling down a mountain. I'm not happy with the rate but i am happy with the service we did receive.
