Hocking Hills, OHIO

Hi gang,
Last summer, I learned about this region from a neighbor camper, and am considering a trip. We are generally State Park people, and do not require full hookup, so I am going to look at making reservations at the State Campground. I have a 5 & 2 year old & dog (all great campers), so we won't be doing any really long hiking trips, but we are adventurous, and it looks like there are plenty of short & easy walks for us.
Just looking for any insight, opinions, or tips from those of you that have been to the area or State Campground, that can help me make my decision and/or plans.
I just want to know what I'm getting into before I drive 5 hours w/ the fam!
From what I've read, this area looks & sounds like a real jewel!
-Thanx Guys!

Hocking Hills is nice area. There are short trails back to old mans cave and around that area as well as longer trails. The state park campground is pretty nice and has a pool if you like pools. There are some scenic roads in the area that are nice. The little town of Logan has some restaurants and is not too far from the SP. There is a scenic train ride in Nelsonville which is kinda fun. Relaxing area overall quiet during week, busy on weekends like most places. Attached link to SP. http://www.dnr.state.oh.us/parks/hocking/tabid/743/default.aspx

I have not stayed at the SP however, the area is really nice. There are several areas to go such as Old Mans Cave and a few others that are easy hikes. There are a few areas that you can make the hikes easy or as hard as you want. You will enjoy the area. Also go to the boot factory. It is a store but a nice stop and you can have a bite to eat or ice cream. We stayed at the KOA and really enjoyed our time there.
