How to tighten the shower handle?

The cold water shower handle is loose and I don't see how to tighten it. It is L shaped and I am stumped on how to get to the screw to tighten it up.

You might have to remove the screw and take the handle off and under it you may find a round piece to turn that will tighten the stem-if the stem is loose. If the screw in the handle that screws into the stem needs to be tightened you may end up having to put a new screw in or possible a slightly larger screw in diameter if the stem is stripped. Last try would be a self threader to cut new threads into the stem. I am assuming the stem is plastic. After that I would put in a new fixture-it is not hard to do. Good luck

My shower handles have small set screws and take an allen wrench to tighten them.
