Hydraulic Lippert Slide Remote Control

I wanted to be able to operate my slides using a remote control device. My 2019 Big Country 3155RL has a Lippert hydraulic in-frame system for the 2 main slides. I had trouble trying to understand the manual double-pole double-throw switch (DPDT) and how it worked. There is a 5 conductor ribbon cable that connects to the DPDT switch. Red, blue, yellow, green, and white. I finally figured out the following after trying a few different remote control switches. Shown below is how my DPDT switch was wired.

Red is positive (of course), 2) Blue appears to be the positive connection going to the hydraulic pump, 3) Yellow is the positive return wire (from the red) to activate the solenoid valve relay in one direction, 4) Green is also the positive return wire (from the red) to activate the solenoid valve relay in the opposite direction, and 5) White is ground. Apparently, in my case, white was not connected because pumps and relays are grounded to the frame. So basically, the system is wired so that whenever you operate the switch, either up or down, the hydraulic pump needs to get power either way. The solenoid relay that then controls the valves will reverse polarity based on whether the slide is moving in or out.

I was able to search Amazon for "Dump Trailer Wireless Remote Controller" and I found about 4 different devices that sell for about $75 or less. Pick whichever one you want. Don't buy the yellow ones, they are WIRED not WIRELESS. See below:

Follow the wiring directions displayed on the remote switch. You might need to change the "Up" and "Down" connection to you ribbon cable if the remote works backwards from what you would like it to do. Just make sure that the wire labeled "Pump" on the remote device is connected to whichever wire you can determine sends "positive" to your pump. In order to connect to my ribbon cable and allow the manual DPDT switch to remain operational, I simply connected the remote wiring control to the ribbon cable using automotive 12 VDC connectors as shown below. You might prefer a different type of connector.

Given that I have spent several hours trying to add this functionality to my camper, I hope that this post will help save a few people from the hassle that I went through. If I made a statement or two that was incorrect, feel free to point that out. If you simply don't like what you see here, keep scrolling. Our country doesn't need any more posts that take swipes at people because they think they are smarter, more knowledgeable, etc.
