Hydraulic pump shut off

I thought I would share a problem that happened to a friend. My friend has a 40' Mandalay motorhome and while he was driving down the road, the hydraulic pump started and extended the bedroom slide out. Still waiting to here what the cause was.

Im thinking now, that a shut off for the power feed to the hydraulic pump might avoid a problem in the event of a malfunction while driving.

Thanks
Jeff

Hi jdamude,

Be interesting to hear what failed. If the pump just started by itself, that wouldn't be enough to extend the slide. When you press the switch to open a slide, power goes to both the pump and to a valve that lets hydraulic fluid flow to and from the slide ram. On the other hand, a valve failure might have allowed some slide movement without the pump running.
