Has anybody heard how our Heartland family members in Oklahoma and Missouri fared in this last round of tornados and torrential rains? Again, I think a prayer is in order for all of them.
I'm OK here in Blue Springs, MO. One house in Moore, OK hit two weeks ago was hit again last night. Odds of being hit once are 1 in 10 million, odds of being hit twice in the same year, 1 in 10 million to the 100th power.
Spent 45 minutes in the basement of Downstream Casino outside of Joplin, Mo. then went home and road out round 2 at home. Luckily, all was for nothing.
We've been fine, except for rain here in Kansas City. For the past 2 weeks I haven't been able to do much outside because of the rain. Fortunately I've been able to find a window so I could mow the yard.
Just heavy rain here, most of the damage to the north of us. Seems most of the bad stuff follows I 44 from Ok. to St. Louis
Lucky for us we are about 40 miles south of St. Louis.
I sure hope everyone is OK. It seems to be going on and on this year. I hadn't heard that about Moore. I am leaving this Wed for Wheatland, MO, stopping over for the night in Ardmore. I made a reservation at Hidden Lake RV Park 2 months ago. They proudly display their storm shelter on their website. I wasn't thinking about it as much then as I am now. That's probably a smart move on their part.
As I set here at 0720, listening to the thunder shake thie glass, I can't help but think that 8 more days u til we go north is not gonna come soon enough. Between the twisters and the floods I don't know how much more the good folks of Oklahoma can take. Stacy and I are among the lucky ones. Keep the victims in your prayers.
