LOVE our new AUTOLEVEL Level-UP

As some of you may know, we were the very first Heartland product retro-fitted with the six-point Level-Up system. We had this done in 2009 after the Goshen rally...after lots of begging and pleading...;). At the time there was no auto-level, we had the newest upgrade which was a hand-held remote instead of the tethered pigtail, and I had to use bubble levels to get the rig set. It was easy, took a little tweeking each time, but I really wanted the auto-level.

We stayed over after this year's Goshen rally and had the auto-level brain installed by Ron McCoy, who now works for Lippert and who did our original install at Trailair. As usual Ron did a great job, and even made it so I can still use the remote to remove the trailer from the truck...or if something should happen to the brain...we have a back-up.

All I can say is WOW!! I love this thing...I thought it was easy before, but this is amazing!! We've used it several times now and it is unbelievable...I took the trailer off the truck today, turned on this system and hit auto-level...before I could even get around to the other side of the unit...it was done! No more having to check with the bathroom door, and adjust...we made sure when it was "learning" that the door was the final level for us...and it takes it back there each and every time...I'm in Heaven...I love my Bighorn...LOL:)

I would have to agree. We have the OEM Auto-Leveling System and it is the best thing! Its great to not have to worry about backing up over a board or those leveling blocks. I would not be without one ever again!

You don't have to do anything, unless of course, the system looses it's memory later. After installation Ron will level your RV, then he'll ask you "is this how you want it". I checked my bathroom door and told him to lower the front just a hair, which he did. It was now "technically" off-level, but it was now comfortable for us. He then enters into a "learning" mode...the system determines that this is now level, and from then on it takes it back to that setting. After it's set, all you do is turn it on and hit autolevel...Man, it's great!

Level Up is one of the two best things I did to the trailer.

So what is "level" and what is "learning?

At the Nashville Rally last year I asked Bob Teague (sp), the whiz behind the system, what his idea was of "level" was.
His answer, "when I crack an egg and it stays in the middle of the pan". H'mm I thought, that's pretty good.

I told him my idea of level was slightly nose high and door side high, allowing most of the AC condensation to runoff the left rear corner of the trailer. This keeps the corner on the right side dry where the pups have their pen.

He said "no problem, get your level and perform this keypad function"

That keypad function will "learn" your level, and return it every time to within a very close tolerance.

I decided it was now or never and I got the Level up and then went over to Edon, Ohio and got the 17.5 wheels and Goodyear Y114's. These were the best things I think I could have done. Setting up is a breeze. I hit the auto level and by the time I hook up the water and sewer the rig is level and the ac is on and I walk inside and relax. The new tires and wheels make the Bighorn solid as a rock behind me now and I am much more comfortable and feel much safer on the road now.

The only problem is that I am back at home and work and I am ready to hit the road again!

The 17.5 wheels and tires are next year's upgrade...just hope these one year old G614's last till then. I think we're gonna go with Michelin J loads...they have the same capacity as the GY 114's...we just trust Michelin tires more.

The Michelin's have almost the same specs as the GY's (except speed rating). How does Michelin as a company stand behind the tires with regards to tire failure and trailer damage?
From what I have hear, GY stands behind damage with at least the domestic manufactured tires

Dont know...NEVER had a Michelin failure. used XPS ribs for years. GY 614 threw tread in less than 3 years...O

Something to consider.

But for me I will also consider the home country of the parent country.
