Middle jacks not grounded.

We were wondering if we should use pads or something when the auto leveling function leaves the two center jacks in the air or is that not a problem?

Hi TravellingScots,

Welcome to the Heartland Owners Forum and to the family. We have a great bunch of folks here with lots of information and all willing to share their knowledge when needed.

I'm sure you will get some information from our members soon. I don't think I have heard of this before.

Enjoy the forum.

You mean the center jacks are extended all the way and suspended in the air. If so yes you need blocks under them.

I had the same problem when we did the PDI. The pads barely touched the ground and level up would time out. Dealer was unable to fix the problem after some phone calls to Lippert. Took the BH to Lippert and they merely lowered the jacks one hole. I would assume your jacks have several mounting positions. Just lower them one notch if you don't want to use blocks like Jon suggested.

Along with Bernie's suggestion, take a look at the jacks.
Preferably on level ground, measure the distance from the ground to the bracket welded to the frame, they should be nearly the same with all 4 jacks.
Look to see if all 4 jacks are bolted on in the same relative position.

If all looks good, height and jack placement, my suggestion would be to lower all 4 jacks one bolt hole. Lowering only the front or rear can introduce unequal loading on the frame if one set bottoms out before the other.

In other words, on flat level ground (parking lot for instance), lower the jacks till they just touch ground. The exposed ram length should be nearly equal.
