My Recent Faucet Modification

I recently installed a new kitchen faucet and installed a drinking water filter and faucet. The pictures show the install. I'd be happy to help anyone interested in how I did the modification.

Within the modification I decided to redo all of the plastic pex fitting and install brass pex fittings. My parents rig recently had a leak in which I helped fix and it was determined that the root cause was a plastic fitting that deteriorated. I decided to avoid this before it happened. This upgrade is not cheap as these brass fittings are quite pricey when you buy a lot of them.

Overall the project took me a good 5 to 6 hours. This was after I searched for quite awhile for all of the fittings needed to convert the euro style faucet to pex. This was quite difficult and took may trips to the hardware store :)

This is the first of many modification I plan to make! I love my North Trail!

Super job-I had a pex fitting that failed on a previous unit I owned. Seems like they could beef up those fittiings.

Just a FYI for anyone either doing a routine upgrade on their PEX plumbing or fixing an emergency leak. I went to my local Home Depot store recently and made a visit to the tool rental area, asking about PEX crimp tools. They have a set with an $11 fee for 4 hours or $16 fee for all day.

Good idea. I was able to find a nice PEX tool by Kobalt on eBay for a decent price. This way I always have one. My father recommended the Kobalt tool as he has one as well. Lowe's used to sell them, but I couldnt find one. But did find one on eBay. If anyone doesn't know, pex is very easy to work with!

Nice job, Zack! I'm sure your dad will do an inspection and give it his 'seal of approval' in a few weeks!

thanks for the great pictures and the project. Where did you get the fittings that have the shut off valves built in them?

After doing my Kitchen sink I decided to do the bath vanity. Brought home a nice fixture by American Standard with the quick disconnect sink drain. I discovered prior to any disassembly that the Residential drain has an overflow type drain pipe. These can't be used in our sink. So I have to decide if I want to reuse the existing drain which is pretty rough after 6 years or go with a basic drain with a rubber plug.
I could spend more money for a separate purchase of a pop up type drain but was hoping to keep costs at a minimum and still get all new stuff.
