Hi jgaroni,

Welcome to the Heartland Owners Forum. There's lots of useful information here along with a great bunch of friendly and helpful people - including a lot of people who do exactly what you're planning.

I'm sure you'll get some helpful advice shortly.

When you are looking a TH'ers make sure the floor plan works for you. Take time to sit in the coach and look around. Is a 10' garage big enough or do you need a 12'? Smaller TH'ers are fine as to the GVWR. Problem is, you not living in your HD. Is the kitchen, living area, bedroom big enough. Do you have a dogs, cats, and other people traveling with you? You are making a BIG$$$ purchase, so do it right (take your time) the 1st time.

The next thing is a tow vehicle. Most TH'ers require a 1 ton truck and a DRW is the best way to go. When you start looking....forget the empty weight of the coach. Its the GVWR you concerned about. Most bigger/longer TH'ers have a GVWR of at least 18K. That's a big heavy trailer.

When you find a floor plan you like....download the "build sheet" from the forum. Add up the base model and all the option. If you don't see a certain option, call HL and ask for the brand manager and ask if it is possible to get it. Then subtract 25-30% from that price and then go make your deal. Unless you find one on a lot that has all the "goodies" you want. I would order a coach. BTW, look at the tires and the brand. If Towmax, don't take it off the lot, demand in the deal that the dealer replace them with a "G" rated tire...Sailuns are a good one. If you order a coach, you can get Sailuns from the plant.

John; I agree with Bob 100%, get what you want and require. They are big and heavy & to pull it with ease stick to a 1ton DRW & you will have no issues. It is a big decision so take your time. We have the 4200 ad love it.

I just read a thread about tires on HL TH'ers. I guess they are coming from the plant with "G" rated Sailun tires.

John, depending on the model...could have as much as 4K pin weight. A DRW would be in order.
