New to the 31QBS

We just purchased a 2011 31QBS Caliber Edition and we used it this weekend. We had a lot of fun and feel like we prepared pretty well for our first trip (only had to hit the dollar store once for things we should have brought). We would like to continue to use it, but I'm wondering if we should just winterize it and wait until it starts warming up some. It wasn't too bad this weekend, but as we get into December and January it could get pretty chilly.

Anyone have any experience camping in a 31QBS in colder weather?

Hi dwagner,

Welcome to the Heartland Owners Forum and family. You will find lots of information here and lots of great folks.

Would not take any chances on a freeze and damaging some of the plumbing. Just hook it up and come on down to South Texas where we don't need to "winterize".

Enjoy the forum. Check out the Heartland Owners Club and join us at some of the rallies.

Have it winterized to prevent any damage from freezing.

And just choose campgrounds with bathroom and shower facilities during the winter!

You can use the trailer and everything but the stuff that uses water in the trailer.

Just be careful pulling the trailer in the snow . . . what a treat!

We did that last Christmas Day for our new Trail Runner's maiden voyage and had a blast and are thinking about making it a yearly ritual!

We love winter camping! Our old class c was good down to 4 degrees, our Sundance 3200re is only good to about 20. We just use the fireplace and a small heater down to freezing. If we expect temps between freezing and 20 degrees we use the gas furnace to keep the under belly warm. Below 20 we just find a campground with heated bathrooms. It only take 1 1/2 gallons of antifreeze for our unit and winterizing is easy.
