Hi Seattle,

Welcome to the Heartland Owners Forum and hopefully the family. We have a great bunch of people here with lots of information and all willing to share their knowledge if needed.

I think we will need more info about your truck,,, 1/2,,, 3/4,,, 1ton... engine???,,, tran,,,You can probably tow a trailer with anything... but can you control or stop it??? Your truck came with a label on the door I'm sure... it would give you what weights you should be able to tow or gross weight capacity and towing capacity. Give us a little more information and I'm sure the others will chime in.

Enjoy the forum.

A trailer of that size and weight should be towed with a dual wheel rig. While the load rating is awful close between the single and dual wheel trucks, the ride, stability and the safety of the extra tires and wider foot print, out way what little you save. It will be a han full in a strong cross wind, when being passed or passing another high profile rig, and in the curves.

I believe any trailer over 14,000# GVRW should be towed with a 1 ton truck, preferably a dually. Trailers in the class you are referring to should be towed by a MDT like a Ford F450 or GM's Kodiak. Keep in mind, I said "I believe". This is my opinion.

Pulled my 3950 (42') for two years with 02 Duramax, boosted, single tires, tires oversized, air bags, engine boosted. Pulled fine but scared me if I ever had a blowout. Bought a 09 ram dually, 1 ton mega, Laramie. Much safer, stronger, more stable. Nice rig
