Scott, in talking with my brother-in-law were discussing the outside steps. We believe the steps should be mounted several inches further over to the latch side of the door. This would make it easier to step up, unlock/lock the door and having to lean over to let the door pass by you when opening and closing it. My brother-in-law build a separate step for his 5th when sitting for longer periods of time because it easier to get in and out...../Doug
