Patch or replace?

Looking for advice.
New truck just over 2000 miles and I picked up a nail in the front tire. It punctured the flat area of the tread about 3/4" in from the sidewall.
Will an internal patch be a safe repair or should I find a new tire?
Any thoughts
Dave

Have it repaired and wear it out. I have plugged tires many times with out issue. I keep a Camel Plug kit on the truck for just this purpose.

If you take it to a tire shop, they will measure how far in from the sidewall and either fix or not touch it.

We have always had ours patched from the inside as well as plugged. Both on the truck and trailer and have never had any isues. Like a previous poster said a reputable tire shop (we use Discount Tire) will tell you is if is too close to the edge to fix. We did have a Ford dealer say it was too close to the edge and then took the tire to Discount Tire and they fixed it without issues.

Another thought would be to run it on the rear outside duel position?? I say that because then it would not be a steer tire in the event of a blow-out while driving....safer maybe??

Just a quick update.
The internal patch the tire shop put on is holding well for 8000 miles so far.
Thanks Again
