Jeff...yup.
Your preaching to the choir.
HL is sitting on the pervibial fence IMO. They have the ability to become the premier builder of RVs. Their marketing (word of mouth for the most part from what I have seen) has skyrocketed them to becoming a major player in a few short years.
The commitment that is shown by the Customer Service people is unmatched, at least within my limited experience in dealing with them.
They are providing more amenities than most coach builders for the money. They have gone the extra mile to produce new and exciting floorplans with good fit and finish in the interiors and yet have lost their focus in things that are not seen by most.
They now have a decision to make. Concentrate on what they are doing and do it well---ALL OF IT.. or become just another average manufacturer that builds alot of different lines-kind of like Fleetwood did.
Bottom is line is this. Without a certain margin and profit, no matter how well they build a coach, with out profit you are gone. On the other hand, without attention to detail it is possible to gain a reputation as being very, very average and not a sought out manufacturer of RVs.
Both can put you out of business.
Let's hope the upper managment chooses wisely.
