Ditto. I have to replace my boat cover about every third year and it is on a boat lift with a roof. I can imagine how long the covers would last out in the open. The few that I have seen here in Texas are usually sun rotted and gone the next time I see them. They are a chore to put on. I don't know anyone who actually uses one. I have seen several rigs that have tarps (as in Harbor Freight) tied down on the roof though.
If you have any windy days, You'll have a shredded heap of a cover when you return to your RV.
I have yet to see a RV last one season in the storage area that I keep my RV.
They can also damage your RV by chafing. After one season of using a cover, my dealer knew that I kept it covered. It was already showing signs of wear.
We bought a custom trailer cover from Calmark Cover Company two years ago, It was custom made to fit the trailer. I sent them measurements and pictures of the trailer. The cover is made out of Sunbrela material and it has a 6 years FULL Warranty. So far I am very happy with this cover.
