Replacing gas/electric water heater on my own

Have gotten a quote from my dealer on replacing my hot water heater on my 09 Sundance, wow, big bucks.
Anyone out there replace their own? Would like to know how it went for you if you did the replace.

On Amazon.com, Suburban 10 and 12 gallon Direct Spark Ignition water heaters run between $350 and $515.

If you're comfortable working on gas connections and electrical connections, and some plumbing connections, it's not that hard. If the old one has been leaking, you could have difficulty getting it out if the wood under and around is swollen from leaks. You'll need propane-rated teflon tape and some replacement butyl tape. And I'd guess the new unit doesn't come with a check valve on the hot outlet, so you'll probably need one of those with 1/2" male pipe threads on each end.

Take pictures of all the connections before removal, watch Youtube videos on how to do it, and you can easily do it yourself. Like Dan said, get all the supplies before starting.
