Replacing offdoor slide out rollers

I just lost 2 of the 5 rollers that support our off door kitchen slide out of our 2016 bighorn 3270. Has anyone replaced these. How hard is it to diy? Where to find the parts. Thanks in advance for the help.

Tough break! Check Lippert or the RV maker for parts, or try eTrailer or RecPro. DIY isn’t too hard if you support the slide properly. Good luck!

I’ve replaced one of the gray rollers under the fridge now twice in our 3270. I bought the first replacement from heartland parts. I think they are also available from amazon. The second time it broke I had a friend weld it back together with reinforced gussets. It will never break again. LOL!

I had to remove that 2 1/2” front fascia trim piece on the slide to remove the roller after I removed the two screws that on ours are accessible from outside under the slide behind the wiper seal. Wasn’t difficult at all

I have a HL part number on my computer and pictures somewhere in my phone if you’re interested in seeing

Had to replace a broken roller and add one that was never installed when the RV was in production. Get your vin number as you will need it and contact Heartland parts for the new roller. I had to remove the fascia also on the inside of the slide to get where the rollers were located. The slide floor boards and facia are only stapled on the slide. I used screws to put them back together.
When the new roller came I found a welder and had him beef up the new rollers before I installed them.
I also had to get new flooring that matched my RV after the broken roller tore into the linoleum when the slide went out after the roller broke. I found a floor guy that cut out the bad section of floor and matched it well with the new.
All of the repairs were made from inside the RV and took most of the morning as I was not sure what I was getting into when I started the repair.
If you're good with tools go for it, not that bad a job and a lot cheaper than hiring it out.

From previous 2020 post: (This can be found on the forum using the "search" function)

I jacked up my kitchen (refrigerator) slide from the outside using a small bottle jack and wooden cribbing to the frame of the slide. I could only do 1 end at a time, but this worked OK for me. There is about 2-3 inches of clearance on the vertical trailer side cutout for the slides.

I did remove the slide front bottom wood trim. I had to do some of the repair laying on the inside floor in front of the slides, removing the roller from its frame to access the mounting screws (simple C clips on the roller axle), loosening the mounting screws with a right angle screwdriver some, and then using a thin nose vicegrips pliers to rotate the screw head. I may have used a 1/4 inch screwdriver bit held in the thin nose vicegrips instead of the right angle screwdriver.

I noted that the roller under the refrigerator was NOT located under the center of the refrigerator weight, and I relocated the new roller to under the center of the refrigerator. I think I also added an additional roller to help bear the weight.

The roller is called a J-38 which you can look up on the internet.

Check E-Bay or other sources for a J-38 RV slide roller:

My replacement wasn't the J-38 roller. Contact Heartland with your vin number and they will let you know the replacement roller you need

I have had to replace the kitchen slide roller twice on my 2017 Bighorn 3270. It was not the J-38. The part I ordered from Heartland was:

0125984 : Roller - Slide Out Bracket - w/10" Grey Wheel
