You need to be a little more specific. Is it a "fantastic Fan"?? If not, which exhaust fan?? What are you turning on?? Does it have a thermostat on the wall?? Is it in the living room, bedroom ,or stool room??
OK, when you say it will come on once then wont come on again. Can you explain that in greater detail. You could call "fantastic fans" and they could walk you through a diagnoses. Their PH# is on the front page on the left side.
